What's up with Lexmark

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I called a computer retail store for a quote on the black replacement cartridge for a Lexmark 3200 printer purchased in 1999. The store said :they didn't have any, Lexmark was having problems, check here and there, best buy a few of them if you can find them.

Does anyone know anything?

Thanks for the link.

I couldn't find anything pertinent.

Earl, I too use a Lexmark 3200 (at home). For the last few months I've been bying cartridges from CDW (Link). Hope that helps you at least find a cartridge, if you still need one/some.

Seems perhaps a good idea to order a few. Thanks for the heads up!

Almost all printer cartridges come from one source regardless of the printer brand. That manufacturer is located in Indonesia, a country which is THE poster child of a technologically advanced (or advancing) country which has economically, socially and politically collapsed in a short time frame.

Remember two years ago when Indonesia was going to be the next leading nation in Asia? Now it's just a wreck of its former self withits industries hanging on.

And that one printer cartridge plant is trying to keep operating amidst growing shortages of materials and power. Also with sporadic civil strife, which probaly does put a crimp in the ability of the labor force to get to work on a regular basis and then to concentrate on their work duties.

A view of what may become widespread over the next two years?
