SOmething new and different

Just got back from the towns 'Holiday Parade' where they have all sorts of floats, bands, etc. I've gone every year for the last 6 years and this year, for the FIRST time, they had two trucks in the parade from the National Guard. Don't know what to make of it but it is definitely something new and different.

As a side note, I was talking to one of my wifes friends (a GI) and I asked her what she thought about what was happening in Seattle. She looked at me funny and asked what I was talking about! I filled her in and she said "must be a practice run for Y2K". Apparently she doesn't watch or read or listen to ANY news. Sigh...just amazing.

Sounds like she's a GI in her own little world of DGIs.

TECH32:

You may have something on the NG "floats" --or not. Has a new OC (officer in command) been posted to the unit? Has some new directive from HQ arrived stating "we shall start to be seen in public for PR purposes"?

From my time spent in the Canadian Forces, "new blood" brings new ideas, frequently by officers (as they have nothing better to do...).

Just a thought.

TWO TRUCKS IN THE PARADE!?!? Omigod, run for the hills.....

Sorry TECH, but I like my TEOTWAWKI tidbits to have just a bit more meat on their bones, if you get my drift.......better luck next time.

hey actually, what a great idea!! when martial law is declared--the army, NG or whomever should just hold a little parade with lots of military "floats".

Here's another to ponder: Channel 28 in South Bend, Indiana has been running "join your National Guard" commercials that are entirely in Spanish except for the "be all that you can be" at the end. I found this kind of odd??

What the heck was that for? Lots of people have been reporting lately that they are seeing .mil showing up in places where they haven't been seen before. Did you hear me say they were loaded with guys wearing gas masks? No, no you didn't. I said I didn't know what to make of it. I'm just contributing what I saw, and the fact that they haven't been there in the past. No tin-foil on this head...
