RE: Recomendations for a Tech Pan Lab In L.A.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Hi,

I don't have a darkroom and I am looking for a Tech Pan lab in L.A. Can't find one that runs Technidol (120 size film).

You don't need a lab or darkroom. A dark room(at night in the bathroom), a 120 size film developing cannister, packet of Technodol developer(made for Techpan film), vinegar, and small amount of fix(one quart sizes sold at camera store). That's all you need. Why pay someone else? Otherwise, look in the phone book and there are lots of strangers who will screw up your film for you. If you're in San Diego, E-me and we'll get together and process it for you. James

James,

I completely agree with the previous poster. Tech Pan is no more difficult to process yourself than any other B&W film.

Buy a simple daylight tank and load it in your darkened closet or bathroom (the Patterson tanks are quite good), get some Technidol developer, and just follow the simple instructions.

Sending B&W film out for development just does not make sense. Good luck, Sergio.

You can get by with loading the film onto a reel using a dark bag, but TechPan is kind of thin and can kink easily. I use a dark bag rated for 5x7 sheet holders.

I agree that doing your own processing is the best solution but there is a lab in L.A. that will do a good job for you. At Silver Lab we process techpan to Kodak's specs in Technidol. Call us at (888)746- 8629 or come see us. Silver Lab 1123 Lillian Way Los Angeles, CA 90038
