Samyang 18-28 lens

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Hi,

Currently I'm using a 35-80 mm lens on my EOS 5 camera body. A lot of times i end up with someone being cut of from the image area coz' the wide end of the lens can't cope up specially where there's no room to back down. I'm planning to buy a more wider one with a minimum budget on hand and I'm considering Samyang 18-28. Is there anyone out there knows anything about this lens' performance? Any info will be of help.

I thought this was a manual focus mount only lens. If this is so, you will have a very dificult time fitting it to your EOS camera. You might be able to get it in an old screw mount configuration and use an adapter to the EOS mount. You would then have to manualy focus and manualy set the aperture and use stop down metering. Not a very practical solution. The Vivitar (and several other brand names that sell the same lens) 19-35mm f:3.5-4.5 is just a bit more $ and works great on a Canon EOS mount camera.
