Bokonon..or anyone..re:chat roomgreenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread
Am having trouble accessing chat room. After the password, the page starts to load, java runs, all seems well...then BAM, locks me up solid. Tried from Netscape and Explorer. Never had the problem before and now two days in a row of BAM. Did you change anything there? Anyone else having this problem? That would help me figure out whats going on, thanks....I miss being able to go there!

In netscape: edit => preferences => advanced => cache

I did empty my cache and reboot. Still locks me up completely. :-( Why meeeeeee??? Why now? What else can I try?? Obviously it's at my end...but why out of the clear blue? I didn't put anything new on here..didn't do anything weird or wonderful. I DGI.

Y2K Pro is the spammer. He just came on there and did it, not nearly as bad as last night though. Jerk. He'll get his.

Kritter, it ain't just you buddy. It happens to me alot lately too. I also use netscape and it locks me up all the time now. I haven't visited in a couple of days because of that. I hate doing a cold shutdown and rebooting with the red screen.
Hey Bokonon, is there a problem with netscape and your chat room? I was on another BBS and they just switched systems and guess what? It is incompatible with anything but microsoft....guess who isn't using their #$%#$ bulletin board anymore...sheesh....
Ah well, there is still TB2000....sigh..

My regrets to those having troubles. It's not a netscape problem, though. That's what I'm using, and I'm not having these problems, The "problem" seems to float - that is to say, one night you have the problem, and the next night, it's someone else. I think it's local server problems, or that's the only guess I can make that fits the problem.
As for the trolling, I suppose Pro could be responsible for some of it, but the prime suspect is someone who seems to behave herself quite well here, but is pure psycho-troll, over at the chat room (not to mention possibly in real life, as well). Go figure. Some sort of dual personality thing, I guess.
I'm reluctant to name names, since it's in the category of "well-founded suspicion" and not "irrefutable proof". Let's just say that the chat room serves as a great way to get to know someone, and what they're really all about, before you give them your e-mail address.

Bok or Kritter
could the music be causing the problem, I noticed on my old machine (slower) that the music files could cause problems, this is on a Mac so your mileage may vary

There's no trolls tonight, and we're actually discussing Y2K for once (amazing!)
C'mon over !
