is there a template for tripods indicating how many shots to take for various lense sizes for panoramas?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm looking for ready made template guides for my tripod that indicate where to begin and end each sequencial picture in a 360 degree panorama, or info on how to make them for various lense sizes, i.e. how many shots for a 35mm lens, how many for bigger or smaller lenses (I'm not sure of the equivalent digital lens sizes)

Thank You!

For a 35mm lens equivelent try about every 15 to 20 degrees horizontal should give you about a 30% overlap for stitch images.

LivePicture.com has a program called Photovista which has a chart that gives the number of shots required for each lens size and type of camera. A panoramic head is then used to line up the shots. If this all seems like too much work then PhotoStitch 2.0 will allow you to shoot panoramas without the need to do the math or tripod.

There is this new software called "PixMaker" available free on http://pixaround.com, which allows you to stitch panoramic images without the use of a tripod. Just keep your camera parallel to the ground, everytime overlap around 30%, later let the software do the rest. It's quite nice, try it out.
