I'm doing a research paper on the connection between "The Masque of the Red Death" and Poe's experience with Tuburculosis (consumption), the desease took his real and adoptive mother and his wife. Please offer some insight

My teacher had said that one night when his wife was singing she had struck a high note and vomited blood. She then told us that because of this awful image (Poe seeing his wife vomiting blood all over her white dress) he went on to base this story on that event, and on the similiar effects of the Bubonic plague. his wife was dignose with tuberculosis 5 years before her death.. 2 to 3 years after the story was published..
