While we all enjoyed hearing you today on m2ktalk, the host never explored what else may have been told to you by Mr.CEO during your talks with him. You spent two days with the man, so I'm sure he told you LOT'S of interesting info. Could you do us the huge service of filling us in on ANYTHING that he told you. Also, if 40-60% grid failure for 2 weeks is the best case, what is his most PROBABLE case? Thanks ALOT in advance!!

Orson,

Did Jim Lord have any new information today? And do you know how I can listen to this show? I tried m2talk archieves with no luck.

It occurred to me today that Mr. CEO must be plenty scared about Y2K and equally scared about talking about Y2K. My guess is that he's concerned that No Such Agency or some other acronymic group is reserving a spot in Ft. Marcy park for him, otherwise he'd at least be talking in general terms about this issue. He could certainly interview and speak in generalities about his scenarios, that would not endanger his contracts in all liklihood, but it might endanger his well being.

Just some paranoid thoughts from lil ol me.

Try the archives again, it should work now. No new info, but it was very affirming to hear someone as credible as Jim Lord talk about Mr. CEO. Before I couldn't decide if this individual really existed, but after hearing Lord speak, I literally have ZERO doubt that Mr. CEO is for real.

Could Michael Cherry of Century Corp. be Mr. CEO? If not, he's been drinking out of the same bottle. See Homer's thread: http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001tyc

UMMMM....let's try the "open-ended" journalist's question:

Mr. Lord,

Would anyone be completely wrong in suspecting that Mr. CEO is actually Michael Cherry, the President of Century Corp., which issued a report on embeddeds only four days prior to your announcement that he would be interviewed?

Details at:

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001tyc

Repeat, would anyone be completely wrong in suspecting that?

Hmmmm???

Since we are talking about No Such Agency, Hi there to all the hard working folks monitoring us. (waving) Hey and if you all get bored could you drop some insider information our way.

-- squid (Itsdark@down.here), December 01, 1999.

Orson,

Jim Lord may be credible as an on-line researcher but does not have the credentials to discuss serious engineering issues i.e., telecomm, power engineering, IC design, etc. But than again neither does Mr. Yourdon - some of the statements made within their book and postings indicate a lack of knowledge within the above areas. And before anyone flames me, I believe in prepardeness and have credentials in the engineering field (B.S.E.E, M.S.E.E, and 5 yrs exp in the above fields).

Joe Thomas- Are you suggesting we won't have any embedded system failures?

-- Brian Bretzke (bretzke@tir.com), December 01, 1999.

C'mon, Mr. Gecko. We all know that (i) violent deaths of nationally prominent people are either suicides or the handiwork of a "lone nut," and (ii) our government doesn't act upon any such base motives as your post seems to imply and (iii) the government can't monitor your communications without a search warrant, issued on probable cause, by an impartial magistrate.

This is America we're talkin' about, not some banana republic.
