I am Unable to Connect to m2ktalk.com, suggestions?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I can not get my browser to connect to

http://www.m2ktalk.com

Which has the Y2K radio series on it, I was hoping to listen to see if Mr. CEO shows up today. I seem to connect to the site, but then I get a "Page Can not be displayed" message from IE5.

Is anyone else able to connect to m2Ktalk?

Thanks in advance.

I have been trying since yesterday to get through. I am getting a different message today than yesterday. Today it says connection refused. Yesterday the site seemed to come up but the screen was blank. Too strange. It almost seems as though someone doesn't want the public listening to this interview. Am I being suspicious? Has anyone had any success with this website m2ktalk.com?

I did listen to a few shows from the site a week ago, and had some problems with the Real Player feeds dropping out, but the WinRadio worked fine for the live broadcasts.

Makes me wonder what is going on....

I've been trying for the last 1/2 hour. Can't get into the site and can't get the links for the recent archived shows to work. Coincidence?

to listen live - RAM

Archived show 1 - ram

Archived show 2 - ram

Probably the server is swamped. The whole friggin TB2000 forum plus ALL North's regulars, plus everyone else who needs to rest their eyes, plus a few hundred journalists, CIA, etc. all tapped in for the show. If anyone makes it thorugh, please provide a summary or transcript.

I listened to the 11/29 broadcast earlier this morning to make sure I could get signed in. Approximately 9:30-10:30 EST. I thought it finished, but I wasn't always close to the PC. Could be it went down then. At any rate, I can't get in now.

There are at least a couple of problems that I can see from my end.

** WARNING ** Techno-jargon ahead ***

First, their NS record in their DNS zone file is hosed:

ANSWERS:
->  m2ktalk.com.
    type = SOA, class = 1, ttl = 3600, dlen = 44
    nameserver = ns.m2ktalk.com.m2ktalk.com.

This is clearly wrong and can result in a failed DNS look up. This is a common mistake made by people tasked with maintaining DNS records and is the result of a missing period in the zone file.

However, there is also at least one additional problem. Directly querying their primary DNS server (NS.MISPRODUCTIONS.COM) for "www.m2ktalk.com" shows the IP address of the web site to be 207.126.64.30 You should therefore be able to get their site by going to:

http://207.126.64.30

However, this also fails. The server appears to be live (because a traceroute/ping completes). However, web services (port 80) do not appear to be active.

Those so incline could call either the administrative or technical contacts for the domain listed below:

whois m2ktalk.com

Registrant: Embassy Of Heaven Church (M2KTALK-DOM) 8777 Basl Hill Road SE Stayton, OR 97383 US

Domain Name: M2KTALK.COM

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, Zone Contact: Administration, Domain (SE1692) mis@GCOMM.COM 559-307-0660 (FAX) 559-276-8331 Billing Contact: Revere, Paul (PR4538) embassy@TELEPORT.COM (503) 769-5034 (FAX) (503) 769-5034

Do you suppose Paul Revere is a real name?

In short, these are all typical problems that Internet systems admins deal with on a regular basis.

Appears the sysops my have been installing or reinstalling the web server software. If you click on the above link now, you'll get a message saying that Apache (a very popular web server) has just been successfully installed.

But, it appears from Jim Lord's post today, that Mr. CEO will NOT be on....

It Worked! The Apache Web Server is Installed on this Web Site!

If you can see this page, then the people who own this domain have just installed the Apache Web server software successfully. They now have to add content to this directory and replace this placeholder page, or else point the server at their real content.

If you are seeing this page instead of the site you expected, please contact the administrator of the site involved. (Try sending mail to <Webmaster@domain>.) Although this site is running the Apache software it almost certainly has no other connection to the Apache Group, so please do not send mail about this site or its contents to the Apache authors. If you do, your message will be ignored.

Also... the link I had for Listen Live no longer works. Thought it was MY problem, so spent the last 40 min reinstalling realaudio. Got back into the website and there is a new URL for the "Listen Live":

Listen Live"

I'm listening now... but missed almost all of the show. Hope it gets archived and I will listen tomorrow.

There is an update on Alex Jones' infowars.com stating that the lines were overloaded from the listeners of his KJFK talk show trying to pick him up on his other talk shows through Geneses Communication network short wave bands. It stated that the band will be broadened for the heavier demand.

At 1:45 PM EST, I found a thread on Gary North's site which said that the system was down for the Mr. Ceo interview.

Minutes later, the heading for the GN thread was there but there was no message in the post.

Now the entire GN thread is gone.

I connected to the home page of thye radio show but the link for "Live Show," always gave me an error message.

Strange.
