"Officials with the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe say several marching bands have canceled plans to attend their parade and band competition because of Y2K fears. Apparently some parents are worried about possible computer problems effecting travel around January first. The good news is that cancellations have opened up opportunities for local bands to compete in the event."

This is just the beginning. Expect cancellations of this nature across the board, in all New Year's parades, causing millenial celebrations to take on a distinctly local flavor.
