Broken Bones

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi, you all! I've been away for awhile and never got to meet those I had hoped to. By the tone of the posts I am hoping it will not be as severe as we had thought a year ago(?).

Anyway, what happened was I had a really stupid accident and broke 2 bones in my leg. It sure woke me up to a lot of things (including don't have stupid accidents!). I went to the hospital and they called an orthopedic surgeon who operated within an hour. Luckily, they did not have to remove bone from my hip as they originally thought.

When I went home, I had to be on blood thinners for a week and then return to the hospital and have that checked, several returns to the surgeons office, xrays, painkillers, sleeping a lot, pills to make me eat, pills for this and pills for that!

In a critical situation, which might be coming, I would have been totally worthless and taking up someones time to take care of me besides. I probably wouldn't have gotten the fast medical care and the pharmaceuticals either.

It really gave me a lot to think about and I hope you all will think about it too. Fix any potential danger spots now before winter and think "careful". Best to you all.

Sue

Sorry to hear of your episode and hope you are far along in your rehab so that you can do whatever you want to do.

You are right about safety consciousness. One ounce of prevention and all that. Unfortunately when people face crisis they tend to forget just that safety is ALWAYS first. That's why people burn themselves out of house and home.

Take care of yourself and don't forget to take your vitamins and exercise appropriately.

Sue, make sure you are taking Vitamin C to aid in the healing process. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Sue: so sorry! That is awful! Wishing you a speedy recovery--multi- vitamins, echinacea, goldenseal, and drink that orange juice!

Hi Sue. I wondered why I didn't hear from you on your way south. Maybe next time.

Best wishes for a fast recovery.
