Bunker readied for Y2K

By Denver Post staff and wire service reports

Nov. 29 - Vital communication and energy systems will be closely watched this New Year's Eve from an underground bunker in Golden. But state officials insist it's not out of the ordinary and there's no cause for alarm.

Should anything go wrong, a "SWAT team" of specialists will be on hand at Camp George West to tackle any problems that arise, Brian Mouty, manager for the state's year 2000 project, said Sunday.

"We don't expect any failures," Mouty said. "If anything does go wrong, there will be so many people working and on-call that they'll be fixed immediately." Inside the bunker will be agency heads in charge of keeping prisons locked, streets safe, roads open and health care services operating. With them will be people who can mobilize the National Guard and contact Public Service Co. and US West if necessary.

Mouty also said the fact the command center is in an underground bunker shouldn't worry residents.

"That is our normal command center," he said. "The fact that it is underground is coincidence. That's our communications hub for any emergency.

"We're treating this as a normal winter storm," he said. "We are asking folks to prepare for 72 hours, just like a winter storm. That just makes sense for living in Colorado."

Gov. Bill Owens will not be there, unless he's called in for an emergency, spokesman Dick Wadhams said.

"This has always been in the mix," Wadhams said in reference to the state's plans.

Amateur radio operators will be on hand as well to keep the state's emergency team in touch with the world.

Camp George West could operate for more than a month, said Sue Clark, director of operations for the state's emergency management center.

"The fact that it is underground is coincidence." Sheesh! Where do they find these spokespersons...the comedy channel?

Ashton & Leska,

This post says a lot about about that "list" you asked me to post in your message "WE ARE BEING SPRAYED". I can add that a local company, Cobe Laboratories was ORDERED by some GOVERNMENT AGENCY to remain open and produce product at the rollover. The employees of that company were originally told that they would not be reporting to work come Jan.1st because Public Service Company of Colorado told the company that power supply could not be guaranteed.

Cobe reversed their original statement to employees and (I am not certain of this) cancelled any time off for employees at the beginning of the year-first "your not working" then "you must work"-something employees DO notice at least.

Cobe Labs is a publicly held company (stock exchange unknown) and a major supplier of BLOOD FILTERING units for hospitals and medical needs etc..

North of Denver near Fort Collins, they have built a new National Guard armory just off Interstate 25. I haven't seen the area lately, but a prior post spoke of lots of equipment (transport?) being placed at their local armory too. Anybody had a look here?

Just northeast of this "bunker" named in the post above, there are a series of undulating bluffs with flat tops. About 2 years ago I think, there was a massive amount of flight activity by "formations" of helicopters around these bluffs and near to Camp George West. At times, the formations were made up of up to 8 `copters, not including the one of the Jefferson County Sheriff which also at that time began making an extremely high number of flights in and out of the Jeffco County Jail landing pad.

These `copters did terrain manuevers I believe, following the altitude of the landscape, probably no more than 150ft off the ground at most. They were black bodied with white tops and no markings I could discern.

In addition, flights of army hueys (vietnam era type) made regular flights (two groups of 3) due west over the horizon, returning several hours later in the same flight pattern. To my knowledge, no military bases are within the direction and duration of those flights. So??

32 Days left! Got "Rights"? http://www.worldnetdaily.com/bluesky_chastain/19991129_xcjch_be_prepar e.shtml

ps: Read FBI press release re: Project Meddigo. First they say the Davidians have a right to defend themselves, then they say they are `looking for' just those kinds of people to.....

Doublespeak.

Thanks for the post Homer.

Thanks Homer.

BTW, Camp George West is a detention facility (ie. barbed wire, fences et al.)

Thanks for the interesting info, maid. Perhaps anticipating a need for blood products? Those violent 3-day storms, beware of tree limbs out to render you ...

"But state officials insist it's not out of the ordinary and there's no cause for alarm."

Right! Just you standard, coincidentally underground bunker.

"We're treating this as a normal winter storm," he said. "We are asking folks to prepare for 72 hours, just like a winter storm." .... BUT...."Camp George West could operate for more than a month, said Sue Clark, director of operations for the state's emergency management center."

Some winter storm they must be expecting. Must've been reading the "Weather Reports"

Where do I get one of these ordinary coincidentally underground bunkers?

Don't you just love it: ""If anything does go wrong, there will be so many people working and on-call that they'll be fixed immediately."

So I take it all these people will be standing by with pockets full of replacement chips and a screwdriver?

How moronic can it get?!!!

Oops italics off

No, no, Linda -- underground bunkers are only for GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS. For a private citizen to want to do something similar is "overreacting", and indicates that one is a "Y2K survivalist" who is "hoarding". Bad, bad thought, now....

Whoa, take a breath. If they have an emergency ops center, and want it to be safe, underground is not a terrible idea. Relic of the cold war maybe, or built when they thought Rocky Flats might go nova sometime, I dunno. Anyhow, now it's there.

What do you want them to do, build a new ABOVE-ground bunker for Y2k, just so it won't sound scary? It's already there, for pete's sake, so they're using it.

I'm not saying they're gifted, or anything, but the fact that the ops center is underground does NOT mean that they're lying to you about Y2k! (They might be lying, but the bunker location, by itself, is not evidence.)
