If you live in western Ny and are NOT prepping, you almost have to be deaf, dumb, and blind.

big Lots in D&F Plaza in dunkirk (or is it Fredonia at that point?)

Announcement "Are you ready for the y2K?? We have the double Barrel Flashlight for 7.99. Get Ready for Y2K" or words to that effect.

Also, Big Lots in D&F Plaza has a few of the Deitz STYLE Hurricane/Railroad lanterns for $2.99 with lamp oil cheaper than ANY of the stores in the neighborhood (Incl Ames, WalMart, Kmart, and Qality Farm and Fleet).

Spent some time pre-positioning at Site B this weekend.

Will bring our own Kero, however as QFF is EXHORBITANT there ($7 for 2.5 gal).

Aw, c'mon, Chuck, you don't have to live in western NY to be deaf, dumb, and blind.

They're everywhere.

I live in Vegas.

Smiths is a major gocery store here, and they are carrying 55gal barrels (and have sold many) as well as "Millenium Foods" On year food storage systems, huge first aid kits, survival stoves, f gal buckets of grains, soups, etc. They don't usually carry these items, its a grocery store. They clearly have a "Y2K" isle in the store. Its in the same isle as the "family deals" on bulk food items. I have seen the barells elsewhere, and have noticed WALmart has more flashlight and battery displays then I have ever seen. The batteries could be for x-mas, but all those flashlights??

Smiths' is owned by Mormons. If anybody gets it, they do. I love shopping at Smiths. Lived in St. Gorgeous for a few years, and after all that chilly time in Alaska, I felt like a lizard on a rock. Then my hubby came home from Alaska, said, "We're moving to Minnesota!" and here I am.
