These days we see many photos like this.

I never tire of seeing them, though.

A lower horizon line would help here. I think if you are shoing the fers in their environment, as well as having an effectivem arty image, that placing the horizon line at the 1/3 mark would be most effective, as taught in any painting class.

Other than that, great execution.

In the future, look out for unique lighting to set your images apart frm all the similar ones. Lighiting, fig, and time of year are key. This would look great in the fog. The thicker the fog, the better - as long as you can at least see the outlines of the trees. Try in the very early morning when early rays hit the eraly mists. Go back in the fall after the first frost when they are turning color...

I like the horizon as it is -- gives nice depth and space. It turns a typical forest shot into a landscape.

I like the way you've composed this, the way you've caught the swirl of ferns in the front, with the points in a 'clean' spot....and then the eye is drawn back to the forest. Gives interest to what could end up being another pattern shot.
