Mystical Emissary

One of my all time favorites, this image was taken at Connetqout River State Park and Preserve on Long Island, NY. The image also inspired me to write a short story that describes the circumstances under which it was taken. The story can be found in my personal web pages using this link -

Very nice whitetail. I just wish the face wasn't partially in shadow. By the way, I pass Connetquot all the time. How does one get a pass to get in there at will?

Jim, I love the light and the warm color of the deer. I agree that the shadows could be opened up a little more, but overall it is a very nice image. Donna

New scan. This one is much more representative of the original slide.

Is it just my imagination or do images appear darker in this forum?

If you compare the rendition of this image to the one in my web pages-

http://home.att.net/~canonshooter/doe.html

the one in my web pages appears correct. The one here looks darker. They are both the same file!

Try cutting and pasting the above url, bring the image up on screen and then minimize to compare with the one here.

Does anyone else see the difference?

I think the only difference is the background. White VS Black. One's brain and eyes try to compensate for the background. The image itself looks dark in both cases to me....
