Y2K Thanks Giving

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Sonoma County : One Thread

Well..it is thanks giving day and I want to say thank you to all of you that have and continue to be part of this Sonoma County (and beyond) y2k cultural effort. Each of you have been remarkable in your own way. I am sure that I have not met many of you and I am sure that each of you have looked into your heart and assisted many others that have taken the information and moved on with it in their own ways. So... there are many many thank your to go around.

I also want to take this opportunity to share an insight with all of you. During this last two weeks, I have read a couple of posted articles one on oil availablity and one on a particular 1 in 10 philospohy. I appreciated both of the articles and wish to honor each publisher. And.... I also want to remind each and every one of you to really remain conscious as you read disturbing and troubling postings. We can so easily forget who we are, where we are, and what we are supposed to do. It is so easy to become hypnotized by "ain't it awful informaton". Messages that we take to heart can be so subtle and so easily incorporated into our mental immmage. For most of us, the written word comes with a hidden sense of "it must be real and I must take the message on because it is written".

I encourage you to read it and let it go. Most of it is really nothing that we can do about it. What we can do, and what may keep us centered in our own lives and personal relationships, is to keep our own council. Share it as 'a perspective' with our neighbors. Remember Rudyard Kiplings Poem 'If'? It starts something like this" If you can keep your head while all about you are loosing their's"....

I propose that keeping a cool head with be a central task this shopping season and long past Christmas/Chanukah. If you can keep your perspective that "you will be ok, and that, you have done all that is humanly possible to do" those around us may just walk aroud a little calmer , a little less in a state of "troubled".

We are what we believe , might just be a good watch word.

Good Luck , and remember , many of us "fringe y2ker's are still here to help each other. Fred
