In the local chain store {grand union} little signs have been placed next to some items that say, "Y2K Checklist" This store is located in the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx N.Y.C. Tom

Thanks Tom, especially for being explicit about the details! I give you 10/10 for credibility. :)

So, does it look as though these items are shifting, or are polly's kind of shuffling away from them in embarrassment in case they get accused of being hoarding commies? ;)

Shopping last night, in the Meijer's supermarket on M-43 outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan. (How's THAT for detail??)

Busy, of course, lots of turkeys in carts.

Only "odd" thing we noticed was that there was 4 shelves, at least 20 feet long, of empty space where the bottled water should have been.

There were some gallons of, I believe, AquaPure, which is quite a bit more expensive than the rest of the brands.

It startled my dear wife, then we grinned at each other.......

Recommended Y2K preps for the Bronx: Get out of there and don't turn back!

My friend said the clear plastic water in her supermarket in Manhattan went from $1.75 (already overpriced) a gallon to $2.05 overnight.

Dittos on getting outta da Bronx. Worked for me 30 years ago. Parkside Projects wasn't too bad a place to grow up in the 1950s, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere *near* there now. Last time I was there (almost 20 years ago) to move my father out of "the coops", the place was like Beirut, only without the safety and charm.

GI Joe's (a PNW chain) has stocked up on water barrels and 5 gal jugs. Many little signs underneath many items that state Y2K Item. Saw this in the Federal Way, WA store.

Little tired ass end-of-aisle section in the Winn Dixie, Madison Heights Virginia. "Be Prepared for Y2k" or something like that. Batteries and flashlights and two oil lanterns.

Great line Ron. Discriptive, colorful and very funny.
