new systems not compliant

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The company I now work for has rewritten virtually all of its systems converting from mainframe to client server, over the period 95 -98. However even some of these were non-compliant when implemented. A y2k project was initiated and found quite a number of areas to be rectified, although it wasn't a mammoth task, quite a bit of the system and DB (sybase) software also had to be upgraded, now they have a y2k freeze until 02/00, we're all doing "documentation", great fun. The company are replacing most of their contractors with a smaller number of permies, they have also stopped using off-shore develepers, both growing trends over here.
