Initiative Funding

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

I'm curious. How many would be willing to donate say 10% of the money they will save (on the tab tax) to fund the next initiative and support the legal defense team?

I think we ought to have PUBLIC SUPPORT OF INITIATIVES. Any initiative that gets on the ballot ought to be given $2-3 million from the general fund for advertising and general promotion, to offset the contributions of the special interests against it. ;)

(That was tongue in cheek, guys, didn't really mean it.)

I'll be. I may donate 100% of my savings.

I already contribute to the defense team by paying my state taxes. The Attorney General who has the largest law firm in the state is charged by law with the duty of defending the validity of initiatives that pass. Why should we pay for high priced Seattle lawyers to help the Attorney General? Judging by her outcome on the tobacco lawsuit settlement she doesn't need any help from other lawyers.

On the other hand, those of you who feel like you just have to spend the money you're saving on your license tabs, have at it and contribute to Tim's vanity defense fund.

"I already contribute to the defense team by paying my state taxes. " And we appreciate every last penny, David.

Lets see: 1973 Datsun. $23.75 before I-695, $30 after. How much of my savings should I contribute?

Don't misinterpret this remark. I worked very hard to support I-695.
