Why are more admissions forthcoming?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The past few weeks have seen more admissions by the Feds that there might be problems.Of course the latest Horn Committee report is the most alarming as the programs in jeapordy are critical.I wonder why we are hearing these admissions? The cover has been lifted for sure. This seems to be a retreat from the spin and grin formula. What gives?

Maybe it's CYA for the post disaster trials?

I agree with Kook. The average American has a very short memory so I think they are waiting til the last minute to say these things and cover their sorry asses. This way JQP won't lynch the bastards because "they warned us".

Norman Dean is now speaking on C-SPAN about Y2K. He's really letting Clinton have it!

wondering:

Who is Norman Dean?......and what's he saying?

Norman Dean is director of Y2K and Society. He was calling for various actions to prepare now tp serve populations when the federal programs collpase--e.g., Medicaid, food stamps, and so on. Have lists of people medically dependent on electricity, etc. Of course I don't know what you do about the elderly who might freeze to death.

This is the modus operendi (sp?) of this administration. Lie, Lie Lie, followed by Deny, Deny, Deny followed by the truth in little packets. These clowns know that if they delay the truth then by the time the truth comes out the American public is just so tired of hearing about (Monica, Filegate, Branch Davidians, Impeachment, Y2k...) that they just don't care. Whatever just as long as it goes away. We are at the packets of truth. We will not bet the whole truth or even a reallistic assesment until late in December. If people are weary of the topic the barely even know wait for the apathy in December.

They can't help themselves they are sociopaths.

my "uneducated" prediction:

lots of last minute admissions to CYA on the part of the government and corporations. remember, they didn't want to "cause a panic" but at the last minute they probably think, "SO WHAT IF THEY CAUSE A PANIC" as long as they cover their proverbial derriereeerrees (is that right spelling?)

also i believe the media will torment the public with alot of truth and horror once TSHTF.

Short version:

Engineer: "50% done" Project manager: "75% done" IT manager: "90% done" CEO: "100% done" Fed: "100% done, hurrah" Engineer: "WTF? I said FIFTY PERCENT, DAMMIT!" Project manager: "Oops, I'd better tell IT that I really MEANT 65%" IT manager: "You're shitting me? Damn, I'd better go tell the CEO it's only 80% done" CEO: "YOU LIED TO ME! FEEL MY WRATH! I'll tell the Fed's it's 90% done. Bad IT manager. Bad! No bonus this year." Fed: "OK, so it turns out they're 90% done. But they're on course. Honest." Engineer: "WTF again! I SAID..." and so on.

That's the way the game goes normally. Everyone plays it. But this isn't a game. :(
