I am German and need explanation/description of some of the phrases you are using here. Help is really requiered as a conversation gets more easy if people know about the more intern terms

Sorry for missing some "Enter" keys to keep this thread more readable, but thats the configuration of my company's laptop.

Currently in a hotel in Munich (nice snow - airplanes delayed by 4 to 5 hours, minibar in the hotelroom is dried out). I'm a project manager for ERP-systems with knowledge about supply-chains, taxation and the finacials (especially: money, interest rates, global economy etc.)

But --- but my english needs an update (see above Q?)

BITR - Bump In The Road; in the context of a small annoyance

TROLL - a person that posts not with the intent of honest discussion and sharing of viewpoints, but rather to incite anger and encourage others to put a lot of effort into explaining themselves, while the Troll pretends to miss the point entirely. Examples of such posters: "Andy Ray", "Truth at the ready", "You Knowwho", "Y2K Pro". Generally, Trolls tend to be real piss-ants.

At least you see, it's time consuming to get discussions global if people don't speak the same language.

I have so many Q? how to translate some more technical oriented threads to english. Had been some interesting things posted in Germany last days (break down of a constructing company "Holzmann" which brougth the German stock index (DAX) down 100 points= 3-4% with an forseeable impact on the DOW not raising today.

Perhaps I start a new thread in German and supply you with the translation

Fellow Human, one I didn't see mentioned (maybe I missed it) was "DITH" also known as "Deer in the headlights". Picture this, if when driving, you come to a Deer in the middle of the road, it looks at your headlights and is too frozen (afraid) to do anything. So it remains still, not taking any action. Some humans also have this same problem. They KNOW there Might be danger, , but they are too amazed and shocked by it, that they cannot do anything but remain still (and hope it goes away). Heaven's Speed!

Bonjour Rainbow! (sorry I don't speak German ;-) )

Here is a link to a translator, Babelfish. You simply cut and paste the entire article into it, and it will return the article translated in the language you choose. The translation is very literal and you could probably do better yourself.

It might help you with some more technical english threads, although I doubt it would do a good job. Technical and business jargon are frustratingly difficult to translate from one language to another.

But I think it's worth giving Babelfish a try, and I think many of us on the forum would appreciate it if you would post this German article, RE: breakdown of a construction company named "Holzmann".
