Stock markets tanking today

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Markets tanking, and gold climbing.

Looks like we might finally be returning to the normal relationship between the two.

Oh, and the single stock I hold is going up.

Dow Up , what...89 yesterday?

Losers outnumbered winner about 2200 to 900. Talk about a narrow market!

Nasdaq, losers outnumbered winners 14-13....

Oh gawd, here we go again. Watch no less than 5 separate threads get started, hinging on every little change in the DOW/NASDAQ and the price-of-gold.

Don't get me wrong, stock market indicies that have "record highs" one week then plunge the next do not exactly indicate anything than one very sick puppy. But you gain nothing by fixating on every single frigging change.

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!! (But will anybody listen? Is the bear Catholic? Does the Pope shit in the woods??)

(And anyone who comes to ANY kind of conclusion about gold BEFORE the Bank of England's scheduled auction to take place in a couple of days is REALLY delusional. Probably just pockets jingling ahead of the BOE auction, don't wet your pants over it, goldbugs.)

It's only had a 1000 point run up in the past few weeks.

I bought 24 Motorola Put Option contracts and MOT is nosediving. I'm licking my chops!

OH MY GOD! A STOCK MOVED! EAT THE CHILDREN!

With respect, please, please, please, please, please stop posting "This is IT!". It's just "Wolf! No wait, my mista- Wolf! Oops, sorry, but - WOLF!". We'll only be able to spot the real start of the crash (and I believe it WILL happen) with the benefit of hindsight.

Sorry, but it's just getting silly.

Hey, King, why the religious bigotry?

-- Spidey (in@jam.watching), November 23, 1999.

oh never mind!

-- d----- (dciinc@aol.com), November 23, 1999.

I was merely pointing out the apparent return of the traditional inverse relationship between the market and gold.

Thank you, Colin. Every now and then I just bust out laughing, and that was good.

I think the King meant to say:

Does the bear shit in the woods?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Implying that YES the market will go up and down.

He's just not of this earth and can't express himself too well.

Tanking? Tanking? ROFLOL!

Hundreds must have jumped from buildings today ending their miserable lives. Watch the news at 6 for details.

I'll say this in capital letters so everybody gets it: A 100 POINT DROP IN THE MARKET IS NOT THE MARKET TANKING!! A 1000 POINT DROP IN THE MARKET, NOW THAT'S TANKING. Would you all please stop salivating at every little market drop? They mean nothing.
