Question For The Frogster on BR Management (DJ)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Team SF : One Thread

Out of curiosity, how do you adjust the unit size when right at the threshold between two levels? It would seem to me that there would be a lot of movement back and forth between the adjacent unit sizes but I don't think we have much of that. Do you wait until a decisive move into the particular BR territory? It's also gotta be a moving target with more than one person in action at a time and normal lag in reporting. Do you just make the change when a snapshot of the known BR indicates and then change again with the next snapshot? I don't know why, but I really wanna no. DJ

re: BR Management. (SF)

i tend to be slow to raise the betting levels, but quick to drop them. for example: if we've got somebody on an extended trip that i won't have blow-by-blow details on (and confirmed BR) in the immediate future, then i am not likely to use that person's positive results to raise the unit until they've gotten home and any possible confusion/discrepency is definitely taken care of. on the other hand: same person is losing, then i don't wait to make sure that they are really truly losing (and not just a mis-counted BR)... i drop the unit size right now.

i try to stay as up to date as possible. it's easy enough most of the time when results get posted on a day to day basis... sometimes it lags a bit when someone is on an extended trip away from home. in which case, your snapshot analogy is pretty good... with the caveat that i'm quick to drop the unit size if i catch a whiff of a big loss.

does this answer your question, or is more clarification required?
is this acceptable to everyone, or do you think that perhaps there is a better way?
