Where can I find a MPEG to .dat converter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I recently downloaded some MPEG-1 files from the internet and I am trying to find a converter that can effectively convert them into .dat files that could run on a DVD player. I have tried to renamed the files, but to no avail. Please show me how to make DVD-compatible personal VCD's. Thanks.

You have probably been using the data format, those will not work on a DVD player. You need software designed for creating Video CDs. Also, unless you MPEG video files are VCD ready, you will also need a VCD Encoder like LSX or Xing. I use EZ-CD Creator Deluxe 3.01 (VCD Creator is included which you use) and it works for me but others it does not work for. Good Luck Jay

To create VCD from your mpeg files you will might want to visit:

http://www.flexion.org/vcd/

There you will find a step by step tutorial to create VCD's. I belive it is one of the better laid out sites on the net. Let me know what you hink about this site that I have found.
