Texas Officials: Don't Fall for TV Movie - (STATEWIDE) -- Despite last night's TV movie depicting a Y2K breakdown in New York City, state officials say their biggest fear is not the technology, it's the public. Jo Moss of the group "Readiness 200" says the biggest fear is that people will try to use their phones or flush their toilets all at once at the stroke of midnight, just to make sure they work, and that overuse will cause glitches in the system. She says another concern is that a problem unrelated to Y-2-K, like weather, might knock out services and people will think it's Y-2-K related.

Well, that's what the majority of Texans voted in for themselves, is it any wonder the minority are preparing like crazy? Maybe someone ought to catch those officials by surprise and ask them to explain exactly what the broken code crises is? No peeking at notes allowed. It sure appears to me they can't individually answer the question inspite of consistent and almost psychotic repetitions of it by the media.

They actually think the Y2K bug is the public. The level of ignorance is absolutely shocking. Shouldn't we all be faxing to them exactly what the bug is so's they know? Can we allow the Texas officials to sit in such a dark cave watching shadows on the wall as reality?
