Tourney 3 - Motion for selection of games

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

I move that we select games this way - tell me what you think.

A. Each person picks three games that they would like to see in the tournament. The voting will start on the 1st of January - provided everything stays intact... and end on the 15th of January.

B. After the deadline passes, I will randomize the games(instead of Pat) - however, I will do it in front of a witness who doesn't give a *beep* about video games.

C. Each game has equal weight, no matter how many votes a game gets. So if a game gets a second vote, too bad. It doesn't help it.(there defeats the gang voting)

C. After the randomizing is done, I will put the results in front of a three or five person committee. With this committee, we will knock out games that can be controversial(Track N' Field), non-playable(Us Vs. Them), or multi-typed(Breakers, KOF 96, Street Fighter 2, one would have to go)

D. The final results would be posted on the board with the appropriate settings. These results would be final unless a huge uproar occurs...

Let me know your thoughts on this - Thanks :)

Cool there's two C's in the alphabet now! :)

Great Ideas, i reccomend the randomizing be done such that when it's performed each game has a weight from 1 to N, where N being the number of games voted on. And if X is the number of games that will be in the tournament, when the X games are eliminated by the committe, there is no question which game will take it's place, since each game will be bumped up in order that is not eliminated.

I also recommend the random order value be posted for all games, such that we can tell which games were eliminated and why the non eliminated games took their place.

So say N was 5 and X was 3. The random order values would perhaps be:

1. Pacman

2. Space Invaders

3. Pong

4. Wakuwaku 7

5. Splatter

And if the games that were selected in the tournament were Space Invaders, Pong, and Wakuwaku 7, then we'd know Pacman was elimnated and Wakuwaku 7 took it's place because it was next in line.

Sorry I'm late (been busy and such).

Sounds better than randomizing 1000+ games then voting. So I'll vote yes on the previously describe scheme (if I'm not to late).
