Reality check.

I've probably touched on this before with examples but feel that it needs to said bluntly again as it is the number one reason that I feel that Y2K will be quite bad, maybe very bad. This is my obversation as a programmer; EE's please add your insight.

Management by and large does not get it! Some who have not gotten it are just now starting to do so but it is to late. By management I include politicians and civil service managers. These are the people who set budgets and priorities. Oh I forgot to include IT managers with 20 or 30 years in IT. Let me say it again even IT managers with many years in IT have not gotten it in time.

Also I firmly believe that many organizations who are going to ERP systems as a Y2K solution will experience the final solution. I have first hand experience here but can't detail to protect myself. I have been seeing that deer in the headlights look from some of the above.

And the beat goes on.

Ed, the way the world has always worked for these dudes is: "There is never enough time to do it right, but there is always enough time to do it over." Y2K is different. They do not understand that.

We don't have to worry we will solve our ERP problems by installing SAP. Yes I said SAP worked for Hershey's didn't it? Uh, never mind must get more bags of rice.

I'd like to thank you for your efforts. I myself have been able to get the extended family on board and it was because of your book. Your next book is due when? And, have you had any further thoughts on what career areas may do well in a major downturn. Also, PNG took his website off line, you seem to know him somewhat, have you any updates from him about the Japanese situation?

I found PNG's latest report down below. His report on Japan should have been in a thread of it's own so all could read it.

For PNG's commentary, you better hurry down to the thread near the bottome that starts off---Japan's utilities---- His input should be lifted and moved up top'

anyone know how?
