Westergaard's Pessimistic predictions (and he's a polly)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The stock market will decline 40% in 1998-99 as concerns over the viability of the banking system and the ability of governments to deliver basic services will panic investors. . .

Federal Express will file for Chapter 11 court protection in 2000 as its planes are unable to fly at night due to the failure of the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to assure that the air traffic control systems' computers are Y2K compliant. . . .

The U.S. income tax system will be simplified with a form of flat tax because IRS computers will not be functional in 2000, thus necessitating vast changes in the tax code. . . . Link: http://www.wbn.com/y2ktimebomb/Economy/Predictions/wi97...

=====================================================================

Imagine if he was a doomer. It's pretty clear now that the IRS will not make it, the tax systems gates will open and taxpayers will flee with their own money, finally.

Please note, Westergaard made those predictions in *September 1997*. He has modified them considerably since then. Not sure why GN is posting them so publicly now. Maybe he wants to embarrass Westergaard.

Not everything Gary North posts has revelance or even validity when it comes to Y2k. What was that about a new puppy scratching his hand?
