Anyone have a UDF nearby?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I stopped last night to top off the car. Lo and behold, what do I see in front of the store - about 1 1/2 cords of firewood for sale. $3.99/bundle of about 6 small logs. This never happened last year, I've lived in my town for almost four years, and have never seen this happen before.

Anyone else see something similar?

Would Milne consider a UDF the same as a 7-11 wrt toast?

[Super snip for parallelism after deletions...sysop]
"And OK Ill bite, whats a UDF?"

"UDF" is a "United Dairy Farmers" gas station.

[snip of inflamatory stuff. just keeping the relevant stuff since I deleted a NUMBER of drivel posts and answers. Don't like it? terribly unfortunate....sysop # 3]

I don't know about your area, but I can assure that here in Iowa, nearly all convenience stores sell small bundles of wood - throughout the year. It's extraordinarily expensive but in no way unusual.

Arnie,

Hello and thank you. I was wondering because I've never seen this happen at this UDF before. I'm interested in seeing how many companies use Y2K as a selling tool.

To me, if companies use Y2K as a selling tool, it just might indicate their confidence in their remediation efforts, and that Y2K MIGHT NOT be such a big issue. With all of the corporations "tip-toeing" around Y2K, it makes Y2K look as though it could indeed be very bad, that even the corporations are doing "double-speak", and they know it.

Again, thanks for your imput, I'm glad to know that what I'm seeing isn't "unusual".

Meet you on another thread, Deb. Enjoy your posts. Don't let the trolls get you down. (Like, I was worried?)

Haven't noticed anything with firewood, Deb, but I have noticed that the local convenience store does have more propane, than they usually do, this time of year. They sell those 12 pound refillable tanks, and have always allowed the stock to dwindle, after October. The racks are full, this November.
