How the perception of structured approach changes over time? How the future development of methodologies will evolve?

Program structure (and using simple, reusable components) will continue as a viable model. I would postulate that some advancements will be made...after all software development is only about a half century old...and there is no doubt room to develop enhanced development and maintenance models.

OO approach is slowly replacing the Structured approach. However, the modern OO proponents seem antagonistic to the structured approach and don't wish to have any connection with it. Thereby they lose certain good things in the structured approach like Dataflow diagrams. For instance, Booch's UML doesn't have any diagram that describes, in any neat manner, the flow of data in an organisation (like what the DFD does). So I wish that, in the future, the OO and the structured approaches are mixed in an appropriate manner. If the IT industry exists, that is.

I add data flow and process flow (flow chart) diagrams to any object oriented design I do. There is always an order of events in any program, and no it isn't captured by Booch diagrams. Use what you need, don't feel constrained by what someone else says.
