Anyone know how much seaweed (w/ potassium iodide) to take?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

There was another discussion on KI (potassium iodide) today, and it reminded me I don't know how much seaweed need I take in case ol' Wonder.land is subjected to falling-out-of-sky no-nos. When I first heard about KI, I found a place to sell it (thru a GN report), but found it toooooo expensive for everyone I might have to share with....then I found out seaweed contains potassium iodide, (which boost the immune system via the thyroid)....I bought lots of it, but never did find a recipe for the amount needed....any ideas on how big a bite out of the mushroom we need to take so we won't shrink?

We just got some KI, and on our bottles it says a dosage is 130 mg. per day. To take any more than that is a waste, since that's the average amount needed to saturate the thryoid gland.

It rather depends on how big the bomb was and where you were at the time.

Go to www.anbex.com. You can read that there is no way you can consume enough seaweed to get enough KI. The KI is ten dollars a person. That's twenty cans of pop. Skip the pop, buy the KI.

Potassium Iodide tast yucky! I tried it on several kids with just one small tablet. What good is it if your kids won't eat them? My friend who is a nurse and has researched this topis told me about a good tasting potassium Iodate. Only 1 or 2 companies made them and they don't have phones or returned calls. Another mail order takes 6 weeks to get. Fortunately I found one which still carry some and at only $21.95, I don't know if they still have them in stock. Sorry, I don't have their number, but try this email hth@earthlink.net.I have no connection to it but get them while they are still available. If there is a nuclear accident or blast, I was told you are supposed to take only one per day for 1-3 months depends.

Tons of info on using potassium iodide is on www.ki4u.com. You can order it from Emergency Essentials for $6.50, a two-week supply for one person. They're at www.beprepared.com or 1-800-999-1863. No, I'm not connected to that company, just sharing the information.
