Hegel's Thesis/Antithesis/Synthesis model

Do you all remember the LA riots over the Rodney King beating? The LAPD pulled out of a four square block perimeter centered at the corner of Florence and Normandy. Opportunistic gangs immediately interpreted this as a green flag to run amok and loot, burn, etc within this perimeter. Very few of these characters were actually protesting--they were exploiting a vulnerable situation created by the power vacuum created by a premature LAPD pullout. A TV helicopter cameraman captured the beating of truck driver Reginald Denning as he was pulled from his truck and nearly beaten to death by the mob. If certain areas become too "hot" for police and emergency personnel to enter from some sort of disruption (y2k, natural disaster, etc) the media can once again conveniently have a TV helicopter capture the event (perhaps staged by a premature police pull out) and broadcast it nationwide and create the illusionary impression that the chaos is much more widespread than it actually is thus justifying martial law by adding fuel to the fire. Its the old Hegelian technique of creating a problem, then imposing a solution, thus establishing control. Hegel called it Thesis/Antithesis/Synthesis. A tool long used by intelligensia for installing a new paradigm.
