copyrights

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are still copyrights on Poe's poetry or are they now public domain.

you see I wrote a choir piece with the poem 'Alone' and I need to find out if there are copyrights on it or not. So if anyone has any idea, or if they have any idea where I could find out I would greatly appreciate an answer, thank you.

As far as I know, the copyright on the works of Edgar Allan Poe have expired due to the amount of time that went by since publication resp. death of the author;

Unfortunately, I do not know exact figures - can anyone help us out?

Please not however, that a publishers copyright on his printed version of Poe's works is still valid - which means that just (photo-)copying and republishing an existing book is still a copyright violation and will always be. Only the _text_ (i.e. intellectual property) itself is free to use ...

I hope this is helpful, Stefan
