US West computers go down with computer glitch

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

My phone went dead this morning. Tried to call phone
service this morning but the lines were busy or when
I did get through the computer would not let me get
to the next level. When I did get through this evening
I was informed that they had just installed new
software and many systems went down. I was told that
I would not have it fixed till tomorrow evening.
Lucky it was my business line and not my computer
line. ;-}

Spider,

US West is too stupid to breathe. I will be thrilled when those IDIOTS have to beg me for safe water next year. (With a smug smile on my face I will say, "Remember when you tried to double-bill us? Now it's my turn. Pay, you stupid fools, Pay.)

spider,

US West is my carrier, too. What approximate service area are you in?

I'm in Phoenix...but, they serve 14 states. (They're based in Colorado... Denver I think?)

Was told it was total chaos yesterday.

My middle son works for US West in Denver, and he says they have been working on Y2K problems all week. It has been very "upsetting" for him, because he is in deep denial. For him to be confronted with this problem in such a realistic, immediate way must be causing him a lot of stress. But the dummy stands there with that "deer in the headlights" look, and never does a thing. Sigh... why mothers get gray.
