The overall composition looks good. I find the patch of sky slightly distracting, but am unsure if cropping would help. There seems to be an overall bluish cast? Details of the film used/light conditions might confirm this, but it could be a scanning problem (check the histogram). Exposure time is not stated, but seems to be a second or two.

I agree that cropping the small part of sky makes the river more prominent.

Don't worry about the bluish cast. It's not objectionable, and helps set a mood.

What I find problematic is that the trees on the left-hand side of the frame appear almost the same tone as the rocks and tend to blend in. Of course you can fix that and have a new slide made digitally if you decide to market the image. It's very nice.

Thanks for the comments! I'll add a note on the colors. The water is glacial melt. Suspended glacial till in the water gives it a blue-green color. The image was shot on Kodak Elite Chrome 100 Extra Color (consumer version of E100VS), and the digital version is pretty much true to the original.

The image was shot in open shade in the canyon mid-afternoon. I probably could have used a warming filter to compensate for the cool light coming off of the blue sky.

Mark, I really like the composition and exposure of this photo. While a different light may have increased the contrast, I like the calming effect of the overcast day. The blue in the water doesn't bother me and I like it even more after your explanation. I do agree that the sky in the background should be cropped out, but I also hate to see the tops of those trees go. Nice shot! Donna

The image looks nice and I love the composition. I got rid of blue a little. I thought this way it looked a bit more natural! I hope U did not mind. Thanks for sharing.
