...when i think we'll see some serious jumps in folks doing a quiet "bugout" to their relatives in the rural areas, and a rise in first time winter campers. I've been thinking about it, and it just makes sense for all those folks out there with kids. they all have to make the bills, etc, and can't take off, but that handy two week timeframe over christmas and first week in january when the kids will be home will be the excuse they need to "go visiting". Not tremendous amounts, but large in comparison with other years. I really don't see much general panic coming until it really hits. there will be a lot more groceries bought, and obviously the banks will take a beating on cash withdrawls, in fact, i bet a lot of people will borrow cash against thier plastic, unless some sort of federal action is imposed. all this is only if we don't have any terroristic "incidents" before the end of the year. also,it does seem to have quieted down on the children and guns massacre scene, too quiet. that's good and bad. of course, no one wants any incidents like that, but a really huge one would certainly suit big bro's goals, wouldn't it? Leading to..what? an executive order or three? musing zog

ZOG: Perhaps you are unaware of a few select posts made within the past few weeks on this forum regarding cash money/ATM's.

One was made by me just last week(remember I am in Canada). It concerns the fact that about two weeks ago, my bank's ATM machines in this city(my bank is one of the BIG 5) now state on the video screen, when you select "withdrawal", "IN MULTIPLES OF $20". That was NOT there until about Nov.1/99.

The other post is one from a lady in Calgary, who stated that a leaflet insert in her bank statement suggested that her bank(I believe she was with a big trust company) would NOT guarantee availability of withdrawal of cash money AFTER DEC.8/99.

Not sure of what's going on in the US.
