My new Dimage Scan Speed does not have autoexposure as did my Nikon LS-20, at least for setting white and black points. Is there a proper order for setting white, black and grey points? Should this be done before or after adjusting brightness and contrast?

PS, the only reason why I set a Grey Point is to get rid of the overall magenta cast from the Scan Speed. Any suggestions on that?
