Since my doctor says it is ok for me to keep pretending that I am in fact Australian...the question arises: if I wanted to purchase a Whitlams CD, which one should I get?

I'm one step ahead of you..

I'm working on a Aussie tape to come with your TimTams, which is why it's taken me so long to send the things

That and I ate them..

You ate my timtams?!

Did you get my email with my new mailing address?

An Aussie tape would be great! I bought a Ben Lee cd a few weeks ago, I'm really liking it...

Hallo Immy. This isn't strictly Whitlams related, but I was wondering if you could help me. I'm from Sydney, but I will be heading down to Melbourne with my brother next week.

Will the excitement never end?!?!?!?!

As I keep hearing that the Melbourne live music scene is so way happening compared to Sydney, I thought I would try to catch a band or two. And as luck would have it, two of my fave bands in Shihad and Violetine happen to be playing at, wait for it ............ the Corner Hotel in Richmond on Friday the 26th.

So, my question is this. Is it advisable to purchase tickets prior to a show at the Corner Hotel (well, obviously you did), and if so, do you happen to know their number so I can ring them up and get me some tickets????? I'd hate to show up on the night only to see the "Full House" sign out in all it's glory. I would be most appreciative if you could let me know.

Thanks very much, and I sure do hope you have a wonderful time with Mr Freedman and co. They are an awesome band also. Chunky chunky air guitaaarrrr-aarrrr, indeed. Ciao, Chris from Sydney.

Hi Chris..

I got my tickets from Gaslight Music, an exceptional music store in the city - you can try giving them a ring on 03 9650 9009, they seem to have tickets for lots of gigs so they may have the ones you need..

Otherwise, you can contact The Corner Hotel on 03 9427 7300

Is this service, or what..!!??

mmmmm...The Whitlam's I'm not even going to let myself get started...that would become too scary.

Here's a bit of goss though. Whilst in the throes of exam studying last week, I resisted the temptation to go and see Bernie Hayes in Newtown last Thurs night. My spies that were there inform me that Tim Freedman was also in the audience. I wish I had gone now. Nov 23 is only 6 days away now.

Every time I read a review about The Whitlams recently, I'm coming across oblique references to the supposed 'murder' that Tim (we're on first name terms now, of course..) committed.

It appears he has had a rough time with Sydney's media (well this is what I can glean anyway) but I've heard nothing about it down here. Can someone fill me in, because I really only know the basics..

ie, she kept hounding him, she banged on his door, she died

I'm sure there's more

Spare no details..

Hmm when this was al happening, there were lots of stories in the SMH. I couldn't go back and find them though (damn smh.com.au!). All I could find was this:

http://www.alphalink.com.au/~sonjac/whitlams/picsart/articles/stone1.h tml ----- Jennifer Smith, a freelance journalist, was beaten to death by a mugger near a Newtown pub at 5am in the morning on January 16. Earlier in the evening she'd been to see the Moody Jews, Freedman's latest Newtown-based musical side project, and had told people on the night she was heading for Freedman's house after the gig. Freedman says the pair shared a mutual friend, but is still taken aback by his association with her death, which swiftly became a tabloid press feeding frenzy.

"They just didn't have any stories that week," he says, obviously ill- at-ease. "They had this girl that had been killed in Newtown, apparently on the way to my house, even through she hadn't been invited there. It was a heady mixture of murder and rock & roll.

The gist of the articles was that Ti madmitted that he & Jennifer ahd had a one-nigh stand (the bitch!) 8 years ago and she'd been obsesed with him since. She was engaged to someone else, and wanted to fix up unfinished business with Tim that night. She'd been seen going to his place and knocking on his door at 3am, but he told her to go away. So he was the last one to see her alive basically. ATM cameras on King St showed her walking past a few times, and after 3am a guy was seen to b following her. So I think he's the suspect now. That cold all be bollocks though, I've been known to have a bad memory.
