Nepal in winter

Hi, I'm going to Nepal for 4 weeks in February. I would like to know if Gokyo is possible at this time of the year and what gear and equipment & clothes should I bring... Thanks

Suzie,

I just spent 10 days wandering around up towards Gokyo in December and I have to say, it was damn cold. You will also face other problems such as closed lodges and high winds. So it will be tough to get a cup of tea. I do a lot of ski touring and am well adjusted to cold weather, so I'm not just being a winger. I think you might have more fun if you went to the area around Pokhara and Jomsom. Hiking at altitude in cold weather is just not all that fun. Feeling sick AND cold is not a good time. I've been to the Annapurna region in winter as well and I have to say it is a much more enjoyable trip.

Good luck and let meknow how it pans out.
