I have a friend considering purchasing a 1 -ton truck. Is there still a weight tax on this, or no?

There sitll is a fee for trucks based upon declared gross weight. See: RCW 46.16.070 License fee on trucks, buses, and for hire vehicles based on gross weight.

For example, I pay an extra $44 per year on my Dodge Dakota with a declared gross weight of 6,000 pounds.
