Can I listen to the audio from a video compact disc on my cars compact disc player?

No way! The sound in a VCD is MPEG-coded, so your CDaudio player would need a MPEG decoder chip in order to be capable of playing any sound at all from a VCD.

That could be done; Extract audio from VCD then burn them back to CD-R as CD music.
