Learning Task #3: Who are the Experts?

Following are possible expert presenters, mostly local, regarding a professional development session regarding teaching and learning. Many of them focus specifically on youth. I am seeking information about how best to teach youth through non-traditional methods, in a positive, nurturing learning environment.

Mary Burnison, Youth Studies, U of MN, Twin Cities Campus, Dept. of Social Work

Tim Kenny, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Chanhassen, MN, Learning Center

Lorraine Omley, 6th grade teacher, Mississippi Creative Arts Magnet School, St. Paul, MN

Joseph Renzulli, founder of SEM (Schoolwide Enrichment Model), a Gifted and Talented Program, University of Conneticut

Mary Tacheny, primary teacher, Franklin Magnet School, St. Paul, MN

Sandy Tanck, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Chanhassen, MN, Learning Center

Kathy Widin, Project Learning Tree, Stillwater, MN

Colleagues who are possible expert presenters on youth and how people learn include the following people:

Linda Cronk, Extension Educator in Children, Youth, and Families, U of MN Extension Service Hennepin County

Sue Damme, Professor, U of MN Duluth and Staff Development Leader, University of MN Extension Service
