Survey Question: Is there a pattern here?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

Recently two friends of mine, who live on different coasts and do not know each other, had very similar experiences. One had a dream, the other had an experience at work in broad daylight. We are wondering if anyone else has had any kind of similar experiences.

While at work, my friend, "K" suddenly felt that God was telling him that the people in the office where he works are "doomed." He was quite amazed, but the message was very clear and strong. Later, he felt that he was coming out into the sunshine as though into the Light of God's Love and Truth. A week or two later, this experience happened again. My other friend, "M" had a very powerful and impressive dream that was almost identical to "K's" experience. She dreamed of being at work and being warned, "All these people are doomed unless they come out of here." She tried very hard to warn them and get them to leave, but no one would go. She went out into the sunshine and felt like she was going into a new place dominated by God's Kingdom.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? We are wondering if maybe God is doing something here that is becoming a pattern among His faithful. If so, could you please take a few moments to describe your dream or experience? We would greatly appreciate you kindness.

Thanks again. Many blessings to you and yours in the Grace of Christ. Ellen C.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but I hate to see no response to your note:

On November 26th 1993, I was in Stockholm, Sweden rushing to finish my business in that country and return to the US. My dad was on his death bed and I was holding out hope of making it back to say goodbye. After rushing all day to get out of my apartment and tie up the loose ends like closing bank accounts, I made it to the airport in time. The flight was suppose to take off at 4pm local time, so I was at the gate at 3:30. Europe (the whole continent!) was foggy that day, so there were delays all over the continent. Having been busy all day, nothing had sunk in about what was happening. The time for takeoff came and passed, and I was the closest I have ever been to a nervous breakdown/panic attack/hyperventilating -- you name it, I was almost there. But at 4:10, an amazing calmness overtook me. The thought came to me "my dad is dead", but everything is alright. Now, that plane didn't take off until about 5pm, we circled the airport in Amstradam (sp?) for two hours, I had missed the connecting flight. I waited in one line for 45 minutes or so to find out that I had missed it, then went to another line for two hours to find out my rebooking, which added a leg to the flight, through Boston to get to Dulles, then I had to get to Florida. Well, after that wait, it was another 75 minutes to wait to get accomdations for the night, then there was getting to the hotel and crashing (luckily, I had indeed packed the right items in my carryon -- they wouldn't give me my checked luggage). They wouldn't give me a phone call to the states, rather they did some sort of teletype to their offices in the U.S. and someone there called my wife.

Anyway, got to Boston the next day, through customs and on to dulles without incident. I found out on the ground at Dulles, indeed my father had died the previous morning. Once we got to Florida, I inquired about the exact time of death. It was 10:10 am, or 4:10pm Stockholm time, the exact moment the calmness I described earlier overcame me. I remain convinced to this day that it was no coincidence, that it was something spiritual.
