Questions for legislators

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

I co-host a local talk radio show & interview our local state legistators regularly (eastern side). What suggestions are out there for quality questions re. state "spending waste/pork"? Thanks

I have heard that the state will spend $33M to slightly change the car license plates. Seems that this is a waste and a good example of what we are talking about. You may want to do some research on this b4 you ask.

Cathy,

How about us voting down a stadium? This to me is the perfect example. What i gathered from the taxpayers when they voted no was they didn't really want the stadium if it was going to raise our taxes. But now that the legislature has forced it upon us anyway, I think the general consensus is, " we don't need cops or firemen or metro transit or healthcare or anything! What good is any of that going to do us when we have such a beautiful stadium?"

Cathy

SOME budget items.

150,000...Commission on elected officials salarys

120,000...Wa. quality awards council

430,000...Comm on asian-american affairs

520,000...office of indian affairs

1,000,000..rural tourism development

970,000...grant(gift) to Wa. council on international trade

Are things like this more important than the ESSENTIAL services that the pols are threatening to cut???
