**Y2K misadventures...It seems the cure nearly killed us **

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I Recieved this e-mail,today.

I am sorry for the unfortunate flood of duplicate emails you may have received on Saturday. It was an error on part of the technical staff. It was, in fact, a y2k thing.

Actually it was a bug that happened after some server updates were performed to prevent y2k bugs from happening. It seems the cure nearly killed us, but we did catch it before you received several thousand duplicates.

Much thanks goes to a few kind souls that contacted us after their tenth copy. He has special rewards for you.

We have just replaced the email software package with one more robust. Please report any further oddities or duplications. This bug can not surface again as we are using a different system entirely.

To those few of you so offended by this accident that you are emailing threats please accept further apologies and rest assured that all who have asked will be off the email lists after this brief explanatory note. I hate spam as much as any of you but I hope you return to our site when tempers wane.

Once more, I deeply regret the inconvenience this may have caused you.

I'm sure the non-vegetarian DGIs will welcome as much Spam as they can get after 1-1!
