CP950 - Distorted Blues

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Just got my CP 950. The resolution and features are great BUT I am having a problem with the accuracy of pictures of blue objects. The camera turns greenish-teal into Carolina blue (no matter how I change the exposure compensation or white balance). Also does not record a true color for deep purples. Are there adjustments or is this just a trade-off I have to learn to live with?

This issue of the 950 is vastly discussed in photography forum. My 950 also encountered the enhance blue problem, as compared to my Kodak DC260, which has a great colour reproduction. I sent it to Nikon Service here & they adjusted the colour matrix for me, the result is much better now, though there is still very little blue at high lighted area, but it can be corrected easily in PS.

I love 950 in every aspect but colour accuarcy is not comparable to Kodak, in general Kodak DC260 gives a truer if a little warm image while Nikon 950 gives a very good colour (after adjusting) with a little cool image. Kodak DC is well known for colour but other performance is just average. The macro function of 950 is truely amazing.
