Heads Up! Possible Martial law on Dec. 24th!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just got a call from a friend whose son is going to be flying home from Washington DC on December 27th. He was told by his acquaintance that he might have trouble flying then. When he asked why she said that she has it on the highest authority that there will be Martial Law declared on the 24th. When he asked for confirmation of the source she said she could not give it for fear of reprisals, etc., but that he should trust this information.

Has anyone heard any rumors to this effect of can anyone verify this? If you know something, post anonomously, but at least get the information out there.

I can just hear Clinton's Christmas Eve address now... " I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year... And remember... anyone caught out after dark will be shot on sight... ho ho ho... I'm the King of the World... "

Paranoia at it's best.

I remember a post on this site about a week ago stating that Klintoon was going to be present and make an announcement on the night of Dec. 31 in NY!

So, which is it? I have no doubts about what the announcement will be.

BTW, for more on Klintoon's character, lest there be any doubts by now, see the post about the Oxford woman being raped back in 1969.

I hate to throw a little horse sense on this paranoia fest, but if Clinton addresses the nation on New Year's Eve, it will probably be to wish everyone a happy turn of the century, we've lots of achievements to look forward to as we step boldly in to the next century, yadda, yadda, yadd

I have it straight from Allah, that martial law will be declared on December 27th, not December 24th. He says to check your sources as He has it straight from Himself.

But seriously folks, if I was gonna declare martial law, I sure as shit wouldn't do it on Christmas Freaking Eve! Thanks, but that one doesn't pass the sniff test.

I heard from a grunt. It wasn't anything dramatic. He said some trouble is expected in major cities due to people not getting their checks and/or mass hysteria due to a utility being down.

I think they picture the lights flickering and everyone runs out into the street weeping and screeching, "I can't take it anymore I tell you. I can't take it anymore!" Then in a mass panic the people run this way and that, clueless, lost, and irrational while continuing to cry, "I can't take it anymore." Anger builds as some congregate around the Mayors' office and the crowd yells, "We can't take it anymore."

It is my opinion that Clinton will not declare martial law in December (and only after the new year if things really go to hell). On the other hand, a change in Pentagon policy in August allows the military to assist public law enforcement WITHOUT declaring martial law. Essentially, it is a way to declare martial law without having to use the phrase. IMHO, this is much more likely.

I was the one who posted about Clinton on NYE. I had just heard it announced on MSNBC news. This Martial law news on the 24th, I just heard from a friend who has a son in DC. If you think about it... what a strategic time to declare if you want to defuse any opposition... the night before Christmas. Most people will be so caught up in "making merry" that they will put getting upset about Martial Law until the 26th. By then, it the reality will have set in and the resistance energy defused.

Then he breaks the "real" news (whatever that is?) on New Years Eve.

And then the fun begins.

Ah... I love the holidays.

So, you heard from a friend, who heard from his son who talked to an aquaintance who told him that there would be martial law on December 24. Is it any wonder that the Tinfoil brigade gets laughed at by the so called "herd"? Methinks the laughing will continue...

Excuse me Keith,

Just who would resist the most powerful military ever known.

Much more likely is that the National Guard and Reserves will be in assistance to local emergency response under state govenors. Perhaps with full military deployed to strategic positions like airports, fuel depots, train yards, utility plants, etc to be used to restore order if necessary. I hope they succeed - quickly.

It's also my understanding that Santa Claus will be under house arrest.

Martial Law on Dec 24th? I just love that Arsenio Hall. And that oriental dude is cool. Maybe they could declare that whole week Martial Law Week. Too bad its not in the November Sweeps period.

Here is a perfect example of why Reagan was wrong for closing down all the mental institutes and turning the patients loose on the streets.

Keith, did you miss your meds?

Many gov't agencies like to arrive in the dead of night to conduct their activities,BATF.FBI,Local constabulary with warrants, ect surely a passed on report thru family connections could have as much relavance as a report from CNN or MSNBC,News gets around via the web bush telegraph even quicker than informed sources via talking heads. If I was planning to insure that few would be out and about when I clamped down I would pick a Holiday midnight when everyone was tired ,drunk,or sleeping. New years day millions will be out at public functions and games, parades ect. this would make it most difficult to control or direct human traffic. a sample message "Merry christmas to all and it's wonderful that my fellow americans can be home with friends and family. NOW stay there!" Keith just may have stumbled on some accurate information. Don't be too quick to dis, only time will tell.

So based on a rumor from an acquaintance of the son of a friend, does anyone really think they will declare martial law on Christmas Eve - the night before just about everyone goes out to visit family and friends. Not a very wise move if they do.

This Marshall Law business is making me nervous. I remember Detroit in 1968....shoot on site orders in grosse pointe. We just happened to be out watersking and on our way home when we were ambushed. Lucky for us, they let us go home, but informed us that they could have killed us if they felt like it. I remember being in the Phillipines in 1969 during Marshall Law. I was with some influential locals so we were all out on the town and enjoying the night life....but then..there were no power outages, no threats of annialation,no heating failures, no food shortages, all communication devices were working, planes were flying.....etc.............

Paranoid:

It wasn't Reagan that closed down the mental institutions, it was the various mental illness advocacy groups (most of which are big-time Clintgoon/Bore supporters) that sucessfully sued to close them down, and pushed for government policies that put these people in half-way houses or worse, on the streets with no place to go; in the 1970's. After abandoning these folks, their advocates went on to other trendy causes.

A friend of ours told is that here brother (a newbie in the Marines) told their family that he would not be home for Christmas. He was being denied leave for the Christmas to NewYears timeframe. He said the more senior guys would be able to go home, but not the new recurits.

Also, one major problem with ML would be people wanting to be with their loved ones, which is where most will be on the 24th...

Just an 0.02 worth....

-- BH (bh_silentvoice@hotmail.comm), November 07, 1999.

Bryan,

You are very wrong.

Sincerely,

Thanks for presenting that information, Keith. Some have been critical of you for presenting unverified information. Unfortunately, there is not much conclusive information about y2k and the government's plan, so all bits of information are welcome. Personally, I don't think the federal governemt will take drastic action unless there is a run on banks. grocery stores, and gasoline stations. If major shortages and civil disturbancies start to occur, I believe it is fairly certain that the federal government will then take some drastic action.

Thanks to the few people out there who took the "Head's Up" information for what it was worth. Just a heads up. The friend I heard it from is a very serious Y2K activist and prepper and is a regular "lurker" on this forum, and IMHO would never stoop to spreading wild rumors. And neither would I. But when It comes to the government and what it might do regarding ML, the only info we are likely to get is from "loose lips" in the know who can can't keep a secret.

And when it comes to ML, I fully believe it will be a good thing. We are going to need all the help we can get. As Bill suggested, we will have a lot of resources to protect.

And Y2Kpro, don't be so quick to "shoot the messenger" .... your itchy trigger finger is showing... As a former combat vet I've been in more third world countries than you can name, and when it comes to ML and living under a military state of seige I've "been there done that" and you don't want to know what life can really be like.

The heads up was meant as "keep your ears open" and a warning to any of your family and friends who may plan on traveling during that time.

If injecting any humor in my posts make them seem "less serious" for some of you... get a life. Humor is the only way I can deal with this madness.

And when I mentioned "resistance" in response to ML, to me that is the ultimate ironic joke. If you look at our history from the sixties on, we have become less interested, decade by decade, in standing up for what is right and taking a stand on anything. We have become a country of couch potatoes more interested in watching life on TV rather than actually having one.

Considering our country's history, and the men and women who fought and died to give us our tv remote controls, if major "stuff happens"... we deserve everything we get... 'Cause as far as I can see, Americans have been sleeping on watch.

IMHO, that would be the perfect time to announce martial law. Holiday travel, most people are traveling into a strange, unfamiliar environment. They are at a decided disadvantage. The average american citizen does not know how to improvise, overcome and adapt. The average american gunowner that they would worry about is at his grandma's house without his shootin' stick and can't get home to it. A lot of homes will be overfilled with people so there won't be much food. The quickest way to a persons mind is through his piehole. So they figure they'll just tell you its a temporary thing and don't worry, the govt. will feed you and take care of you for these few days of unrest..........

-- Greg (skipy1@prodigy.net), November 07, 1999.

Does anyone have any theories that would explain what I'm questioning? The question is : if Clinton thought things were going to be bad (and I assume he's in a position to know) would he drop 1.7 Million of his own bucks to buy a home a stones throw from Manhattan? It's just a question that's floating around in my head, no need to flame me as a polly. I happen to believe we're all screwed.

I checked with some local nation guard guys here in the North East. They said that while they have had no orders regarding martial law, they have been told that they are to be on alert from before Christmas through new years. They are expecting orders at any time but have not received any yet.
