Will gov't pit the non-preparers against the preparers?

Will they?

You needed to have asked the question in the past tense. They already have.

It's been subtle, but anyone with more than 3 days worth is looked upon as a crackpot.

To borrow a phrase from Helium I believe; "It will get worse before it gets better".

They already have.

I see no reason that they will avoid the issue. It has been my experience that those in charge are on the constant look out for wedge issues to divide groups. Rich versus poor. Demonizing "those who are winners in life's lottery" as opposed to simply acknowledging their hard work. Claiming we must pay more taxes because "they only want us to pay our fair share." You know all of the rest of the things they have left us with..."big tobacco...Clinton haters.....politics of personal destruction....ect." Nope, they will pit the groups against each other.

Now that I know I'm not the only one to think this way, I would like to look ahead and figure out a strategy to stay ahead of the gov't when they deem it "OK" for neighbors to take from us because I "have their food". Mind you, I don't mind sharing as I already have planned to do this, but I'm wondering what is in store for us preparers if we have decided to stay in our communities instead of head for the hills. My community is doing very little if anything in spite of my efforts to educate them. I'm beginning to think my goose is cooked...especially if the gov't makes it look OK for the have nots to take from the haves.

You opened your mouth in public instead of conducting an anonymous information campaign? Gulp.

They won't have to.

I became concerned about Y2K related issues early in 1998. Like many of you on this forum my preps took place over a period of time and I now feel somewhat confident in my levels of supplies. I live in a highly populated area and do not plan to relocate prior to rollover. I have always been armed and all of my friends and family know of my Y2K concerns (they dont all share them) and the steps Ive taken to prepare. Although I have the stores required to live for a year or more, I dont expect problems at this level. The point I would like to make is this:

Not for one second have I worried about being a target of some government conspiracy to corral those that are preparing for emergencies.

There are many on this forum that would lead you to believe that everyone who has ever bought a generator or more than 1 bag of rice is under some sort of government scrutiny. This is pure BULLSHIT!! Im sure there are many groups of fanatics that are being looked at very closely for their extremist views. The fact that these groups are stockpiling weapons, food, fuel, etc. and appear to have a 'bunker mentality is and should be of concern. To assume that all of us that have prepared to some extent are under the same light is ludicrous.

Truth..

I hope you are right. I have only recently begun to prepare (Aug), and have only discussed it with close friends and family, and then only in the initial stages when two weeks sounded appropriate. Its amazing just how much one can prepare when their priorities change, and they re-allocate their resources. I do not discuss with anyone at this time how much more I am prepared (except here). They thought I was loon, just for the two-week prep. They would probably try and have me committed if they new the extent of my preps now. As for being the target of gov. agencies for preparing, I think if TS really HTF, they are going to have their collective hands full. But then we are a very small minority, are we not.... small minorities have always made good scapegoats.

I think KOSKY is already setting certain people/business/countries up for the 1st round of 21st century scapegoats.

Its the hoarders (not preparers - it has to be a very negative connotation) Its Small business (they did not take did not become compliant)

Its Russia, Italy, China, Japan, the Middle East (they started to late in their efforts)

Its all in the 100 day report.

The Govt and Big Bus did everything they could -

Well........ we have already had people who know we are preparing say that they will just come stay with us if the SHTF. Let's see......how many families.....4?? I am now keeping my trap shut!! I don't mind sharing, and I plan on doing that with water from my well, but our field bed was built for only 4 people.....
