Storing Hard copies on CD-Rom

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MMC2 : One Thread

Lawyers have them, Doctors have them, even low life car dealers have them..... Files, tons and tons of files.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just call up a specific file on CD-Rom and get rid of all that wasted space.

Scanning services must exist out there wouldnt you think?

Just found out that an aquaintence has started a company to do just this. Ive emailed him in the meantime for more info. Lawyers have a program called summation which is similiar to what this guy is doing, while my sis, who is a lawyer, burn their own in house. Interesting.

Yes, KISS is a good concept. However, I think this may be TOO simple. Most firms have a way to do backups...and even have backup facilities off site.

However, an idea is to find the companies underserved in their IT needs...and to go sell them solutions and a maintenance contract. This is still a HUGE area. If you can work out a way to sell, I can supply the work.
