Did green go all the way down to bottom of sill?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this one but would love for someone to confirm. On the U-30b's, did the Jolly Green paint color go all the way down over the side sill (below the walkways). On all other models painted that color, the side sills and below were black, but all of the black and white photos that I have seen don't show any color difference on the GE units. I am painting a couple of HO models in this scheme and would just like to paint them right the first time. If the side sills weren't black, why not?

YES,the green went down over the side sills.Remember that below the cab on the firemans side that the sill had a step.It would look odd to have painted the sills black because of this.Front and rear stantions and handrails were painted yellow, balance being carbody green.Endsills, trucks, fuel tank, pilot and inside stepwells were black. When these locomotives were new ,the yellow stripe was painted on the radiator grills (Ran through)however it did not take long for them to be covered with filth.
